Floyd A. Davis IV

Davis received his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts Degree from Northern Illinois University in 2003, where he attended on a full tuition waiver awarded for submission of a drawing portfolio. For the past 6 years, he has been a staple of the Chicago Arts District, located in East Pilsen, where he lives and works out of his private studio with attached storefront art gallery by the name of Artpentry. In 2008, Davis established the Artpentry brand to serve as an umbrella company for all of his creative endeavors. With the intent to set himself apart as a multifaceted creative force, Davis has applied multiple skill sets he has accumulated throughout his life. He combines techniques including; construction methods taught by his father, digital design work, set/prop design, painting, printmaking, sculpture, music production and many others. Davis’ work has garnered local and international attention while partnering and collaborating with musicians, artists, brands and corporations ranging from local independents to clients with multi national stature. Davis keeps his body of work drastically diverse in style, aesthetic, content and technique to continually offer original concepts and show his range of abilities. Most notable work to date is his “Gentleman’s Boombox” series, an original concept creating functional stereo systems out of vintage luggage that has inspired replication around the world. With many public and personal projects underway, Davis’ repertoire continues to grow and strengthen the Artpentry brand.

ShowYouSuck

Floyd and ShowYouSuck first met as performers booked on the same show on the NIU campus in 2006. Once Floyd decided he wanted to pursue Artpentry Clinton joined him.

Along with creating music with Floyd, Artpentry has also done creative direction for varies albums, photoshoots and performances for ShowYouSuck. Through Artpentry, ShowYouSuck has been able to gain a spot as one of Chicago’s most predominant HipHop artist, touring Nationwide with Yelawolf, Asher Roth, and Chuck Inglish. ShowYouSuck has been featured in Noisey, MTV, Fakeshoredrive, Complex and became RedBull’s 1st Sound Select artist in 2013

 

Ben Woodstrup

Woodstrup is a Chicago based artist formally trained in both fine art and design, receiving his Bachelor's of Fine Art in Graphic Design from the Illinois Institute of Art. Before coming to Artpentry, Woodstrup worked by managing a series of projects, building retail spaces, and coordinating display/presentation work. 

Aside from his work for the brand, he is also active in the art scene with his own independent work that encompasses a wide range of skills and mediums such as; painting, illustration, typography, photography, sculpture and carpentry. Woodstrup's inspiration is heavily influenced by music, skateboarding and carpentry - making him the perfect fit for the Artpentry lifestyle. Upon meeting Floyd, they were immediate good friends and came to work with him summer of 2014.
